Tue - 03/01/06 - Rolo died today, he just slipped quietly away. He was a lovely gentle old rat and I hope he enjoyed the short time that he spent with us.

Sun - 29/01/06 - We lost Milton today, he had been going downhill for two or three weeks and slipped away in the early hours of the morning. He was a good, quiet little lad and we are going to miss him.

Tue - 31/01/06 - Murphy has recently begun to chew the bars of his cage until we let him out, so he has been moved to the middle floor of the play pen to give him more space. He is much happier there and is also spending most days lying in front of the fire in the living-room or sometimes sitting on my shoulder.

Fri - 03/02/06 - Brought a little lad called Benjy home from Longview along with a little girl called Jessie as a pal for Buffy who is on her own at the moment.

Tues - 07/02/06 - Picked up Jessie`s two sisters, Jilly and Josie from Longview as Buffy isn`t interested in having a new pal and it seems better that the three little sisters should be together.They were born at Longview four months ago and haven`t been handled much so they are quite timid. Benjy, who was abandoned, is very friendly even though he is small and obviously not very old.

Fri - 10/03/06 - Murphy died today, his breathing had been very laboured for a few weeks and he had come to the end of the road. He was always very bold and adventurous but gentle and well behaved, a real character and never to be forgotten.

Thur - 23/03/06 - Took Benjy to the vet today, he has a bad cut on his neck, probably caused by scratching. We treated him with Ivermectin about a week ago as he had a mite infestation and he was probably itching quite a lot. He`s now being treated with Baytril and Sudocrem.

We now have a little girl called Cindy who belonged to a friend of ours who has a new baby to take care of. She is a sweet little thing and hopefully will make friends with our other girls.

Mon - 24/10/06 - Little Buffy died peacefully this evening, she had a bad start in life but became a really exceptional and loveable little pet. Poor Scat is very poorly and has gone off his food, I don`t expect him to be with us much longer.

Tues - 30/10/06 - Scat died early this morning, he was a wonderful, loveable little chap and will be missed very much.

Mon - 08/01/07 - Solo died peacefully this morning, we took him to the vet last week as he had been slowing down for a while. He showed some improvement at first but just lost interest in food and started looking for places to keep cool, which usually means the end isn`t far away. He was a lovely lad, just like his brothers.

Tue - 09/01/07 - Two new ratties arrived today, Ash and Ivor. They belonged to friends of ours who had taken them from our local rescue but were suffering bad allergic reactions and sadly had to let them go. They are about six months old.

Fri - 23/02/07 - Little Josie died during the night, she had some health problems but always seemed to be quite happy. She was a sweet little thing and we are going to miss her.

Fri - 12/05/07 - Brought home two tiny hairless ratties today, Fern and Fluffy, they are really cute little things and seem to be quite healthy and happy.

Mon - 15/05/07 - Three more tiny hairless ratties arrived today, Laurel, Max and Caspar. They were just too cute to leave in the pet store !

Sun - 29/07/07 - Two dumbo rattie boys called Cole and Theo arrived today, they are about a year old and rather small for their age. Theo has problems moving around and has had an Ivermectin treatment to deal with a small mite infestation. They are rather shy but very gentle little chaps.

Thu - 02/08/07 - Took Theo to the vet today for a steroid injection to help deal with his balance problem which is probably due to an inner ear infection.

Sat - 11/08/07 - Theo is much better now, he has a head tilt and isn`t too steady on his feet but gets around quite well and has a good appetite, Cole is quite happy and looks after him really well.  Jessie and Jill are very delicate now, they have been living in the lounge for about four weeks as they are both claustrophobic.

Sat - 08/09/07 - Jessie and Jill are now living in the play-pen and seem quite comfortable. Cole and Theo have put on weight and have nice shiny coats, they both like to explore and don`t mind being handled now. Ivor and Ash have just started a course of Baytril as they are both rather snotty.

Thur - 20/09/07 - Jessie died peacefully this evening, she was a gentle little girl, both with humans and other rats and we were very fond of her. Ivor and Ash are now O.K. again.

Sat - 22/09/07 - Little Jill slipped away this afternoon, she was a sweet quiet little thing just like her sisters. Benjy is slowing down now and isn`t eating very much.

Thur - 04-10-07 - We had poor old Benjy put to sleep today, he couldn`t eat or drink and we had to do something to stop him from suffering. He was very bright and a real little pal.

Tue - 23-10-07 - We picked up three little girl ratties from a friend of ours who could no longer look after them, they are around 9 months old and are called Squiggle, Letitia and Mouse.

Fri - 05-11-07 - Ash died today, he went quite peacefully, he was a real little pal.

Wed - 02-01-08 - We lost Ivor today, he was a lovely lad, just like his brother.

Tue - 15-01-08 - Took Squiggle to our vet to have a large abscess on her neck drained and cleaned. She seems to be O.K. but will need to be looked after  for a week or so.

Wed - 09/04/08 - Took Cindy to the vet today, she was very ill and we thought we were going to lose her.

Mon - 14/04/08 - Cindy is now much better after three trips to the vet.

Tue - 08-05-08 - Little Mouse went to see our vet today, she has been very quiet and can`t use her teeth properly, she also has problems using her hands. She is going to need a lot of care.

Mon - 01/06/08 - We lost little Mouse today, she was very poorly and we knew she wouldn`t be around for long. She was a lovely quiet little girl.

Wed - 04/06/08 - Took Laurel to the vet as her breathing is still very noisy even after a full course of Baytril.

Tue - 10/06/08 - Laurel`s breathing is now O.K. Cindy is now two years old and still seems to be quite well and happy. The growth on Squiggle`s neck has re-appeared, we don`t want to subject her to another operation if it can be avoided.

Fri - 18/07/08 - Picked up a little girl rat called Mattie from Longview, she seems to be about a year old. The growth on Squiggle`s neck has drained by itself without causing her any problems ! Tish now has a small lump in her right armpit. Theo has bumblefoot which we are treating with Purple Spray.

Wed - 17/09/08 - Cindy is very poorly, she had a small stroke a week ago and we thought we were going to lose her. She has improved a little and can now get around her cage and feed herself. We took Tish and Theo to the vet but didn`t get any useful treatment or advice. Little Laurel now has a small lump on her right side.

Fri - 26/09/08 - We had poor Caspar put to sleep today, he had developed a large abcess on his abdomen and the vet said their was nothing that could be done. He was a really good and friendly rattie and we are going to miss him. Cindy is still managing to look after herself quite well. Cole has gone off his food and we are giving him Baytril.

Thu - 16/10/08 - We lost Cole today, The poor lad was just too old to respond to treatment even after a visiting the vet. He was a shy, gentle little chap and we loved him very much. His brother Theo is looking very fragile but is still eating well. Tish has had her tumour removed and seems to be O.K.

Tue - 28/10/08 - Little Laurel died today, she had an operation to remove a large tumour but died shortly afterwards. She was a lively and loveable little thing and deserved to have more time.

Thu - 31/10/08 - We lost Cindy today, she was a brave little girl but she had reached the end of the road. She was bright and always well behaved, one of our best loved ratties.

Fri - 14/11/08 - Theo paid a visit to our vet today, he has been taking Baytril for a week to help his bumblefoot and has made some progress. He has been prescribed antibiotic ointment for local application to help things along. Tish now has a growth on her chest.

Tue - 02/12/08 - Theo died today, he didn`t respond to treatment and the infection in his foot was getting worse. He was a real little character and we`ll miss him a lot. 

Wed - 03/12/08 - We had to have little Fern put to sleep today, she suddenly developed breathing problems and the vet said that she had  severe pneumonia. She was a good girl and loved to be with us.

Sat - 06/12/08 We had to let Tish go today, she was having trouble with the growth on her chest which was inoperable. She was a brave little girl and had done well to cope for so long.

Sat - 13/12/08 - We had to let Max go today, the growth on his side was starting to bother him. He was a quiet gentle boy and we couldn`t let him suffer.

Wed - 07/01/09 - We brought a handsome little black boy rat home today, he was on his own in the pet store and we couldn`t resist him. His name is Bailey and he`s about ten weeks old.

Thu - 22/01/09 - Bailey is now used to his new home and beginning to enjoy himself. Fluffy isn`t too well at the moment.

Sun - 01/02/09 - We brought a baby girl rattie home today she is a sweet and friendly little thing, her name is Ellie and she is about eight weeks old.

Mon - 02/02/09 - Poor old Fluffy died today, he was very weak and just drifted off, he was a quiet and gentle little chap.

Sun - 22/02/09 - Found two little 8 week old hoodie girls as pals for Ellie, they are called Cassie and Becky.

Mon - 23/03/09 - We had to let Squigs go today, she was 26 months old and her breathing was causing her to have panic attacks. She was a super friendly girl and we loved her very much.

Sat - 04/04/09 - We lost Mattie today, she had a growth in her mouth and was having difficulty eating. She had a poor start in life but settled down well and was a good friendly little rattie.

Thu - 07/05/09 - Went to see Cynthia and brought back two baby wild rattie girls, they were born on 10/03/09 and hand reared by her. We have called them Poppy and Penny. We also met the wonderful Monty.

Sat - 05/12/09 - The wild ratties are fully  grown now and not quite as nervous as they used to be, the three girls are fine and Bailey is much more laid back now. He had a chest infection recently but it was sorted out with a course of Amoxicillin.

Tue - 23/02/10 - Little Ellie died today, her breathing had been laboured for a few weeks and we knew we were going to lose her soon. She was a real little sweetie.

Fri - 02/07/10 -  Poppy died during the night, She was very quiet yesterday and we found some spots of blood in the cage, she must have had some kind of internal bleed and went downhill very quickly. Poor little lamb, she was just getting used to us.

Thu - 15/07/10 - Brought three handsome boys home from Longview today, one white, one cinnamon and one cinnamon rex. They all seem quiet and well behaved and are about 6 months old. They are called Jake, Digby and Lester.

Wed - 01/09/10 - Brought two baby dumbo boys home from Pets at Home. one blue and one white, they are called Murphy and Flynn.

Sat - 18/09/10 - Cassie died today, she had a small stroke about a week ago but had been getting around really well. She was a good, quiet little girl, a little sweetie.

Tue - 02/11/10 - Bailey had to be put to sleep today as his breathing was very laboured. He was a very special rattie, a real little friend, so gentle and affectionate. We are always going to miss him.

Thu - 23/12/10 - Took Digby to the vet, he was started on a course of Nisamox.
